A cornerstone of hygge living and a perfect example of every-day objects made beautiful; the Chug Mug is one of those pieces that, once you’ve tried it, you may never go back to ‘ordinary’. These hand cast, one-of-a-kind mugs hold enough of your favourite beverage to keep you going through the morning, afternoon, or binge-watch.
The mugs are crafted, not manufactured, and have a contemporary rustic feel and look. They’re chunky, tactile and playful, but retain style, with Japanese inspired shapes and textures. You may find, over time, that tiny hairline cracks appear in the glaze. This is normal, adds to each piece’s character and will not affect its usability. We’d advise that, while Chug Mugs are dishwasher safe, handwashing is far better for the item’s longevity. We’d also like to point out that glazes may look slightly different on different screens and in person.
Anders Arhoj (ah-hoy) began working in interiors in Tokyo in 2005. When he returned to his native Denmark, he established a design studio creating graphic design, children’s illustration and branding before moving into ceramics. The blend of Japanese and Scandinavian influence is apparent throughout the Studio Arhoj collection, combining minimalist practicality with playful colours and textures, to create a truly idiosyncratic identity.
