Mion Mug #119

1 item left

Edo, the historical name for Tokyo, is a range of ceramics by Studio Arhoj inspired by traditional forms of Japanese ceramics and this mug is a core item of the collection. Mion, meaning beauty, is a best seller for the company; miniature works of art that live up to their name. The mugs are crafted, not manufactured, and have a rustic feel and look. They’re tactile, beautiful, and made of finer ceramic than the more contemporary Chug mug with a daintier handle but holds more of your drink of choice.

Each mug is hand made from beginning to end and finished in Arhoj’s own glazes, so you may find, over time, that tiny hairline cracks appear in the glaze. This is normal, adds to each piece’s character and will not affect its usability. We’d advise that, while Mion Mugs are dishwasher safe, handwashing is far better for the item’s longevity and is recommended. We’d also like to point out that glazes may look slightly different on different screens and in person.

It’s no wonder that Studio Arhoj is such a fast Janet Bell favourite, we are the only stockist in Wales and we’re proud of our long-running relationship with them. They’re an amazing team of talented, creative people, ceramicists, glass-blowers, designers, glazers, family members and Hanx the dog!

Anders Arhoj (ah-hoy) began working in interiors in Tokyo in 2005. When he returned to his native Denmark, he established a design studio creating graphic design, children’s illustration and branding before moving into ceramics. The blend of Japanese and Scandinavian influence is apparent throughout the Studio Arhoj collection, combining minimalist practicality with playful colours and textures, to create a truly idiosyncratic identity.
